Default comparing bows

if you go out to look at bow . do you think its fair to compare a bow that shoots 300fps to a bow that shoot 350fps as far as feel shock etc . say the 300 shoots 350 grain arrow at 300fps and the 350 one shoots the same arrow at 350fps both at 70 lbs . shouldnt the comparision be between the first bow at 70lbs and the second bow a 50 lbs so they perform the same( shoot around the 300 fps mark ) than compare the feel of the two as far as shock , drawing ,noise, etc .

I agree. There is no real comparison between many bows today. Best to just say what works for you and why. Specs often determine how and why the bow was designed. I hate bow comparison threads. Especially two different brands.

As far as considering draw cycles is concerned this is exactly how two bows should be compared. The faster bow will normally have a harsher draw at a given draw weight, but take that same bow and turn it down to where the speed is the same as a slower bow and that draw cycle may not seem near as harsh.

Of course there are always the other things like how the grip feels, how the bow balances, and such.

They the bow mfg's should have a single standard of tests that will be made to show the overall performance of there mfg models. The tests should be done thru a 3rd Party like UL.

The results should be available for review by all customers...it has to get back to what you the end customer wants, if you want a speed bow 350 FPS or a hunting rig that is set up in the 280 FPS. Bow should be tested for FPS, noise level of Shot, all should be set up at a max weight of 70 lbs and a 29 draw, with a standard carbon arrow with a weight range of +- 25 grams and also do the same with a alum shaft in xx78,
all arrows should be shot with 2 and 4 inch vanes to give you a overview of performance, others test should be with a drop a way rest and also a WB style rest...
