i am mainly a hunter but i am looking to get into 3d. i was just wondering if you guys could list a few bows that have worked for you. post some pocs if you can. my price range is $700 to $1200 i think that should be more than enough for a beginner bow.

Default Few Bows that come to mind

Mathews C4 or C3 or Apex

Hoyt Pro Elite/ Maxxis or Alpha Max/ Katera

Bowtech Cositition or Commandor/ Sentinal

Mathews Apex7

Mathews Monstor

PSE Bow Madness XL

Elite XLR or GT500

Most of those listed are pretty popular in 3d archery

Most any hunting bow will work for 3D. Ideally, you want a bow that can get you to at least 280fps at your draw length.

DB's list is pretty good but I'll add some to it.

Bowtech Destroyer

PSE Axe or Vendetta XL

Mathews Conquest Triumph

I just recieved my new 3D/ Hunting bow from Rytera, its the new Alien Z and it is one smoking fast shooting bow. No vibration and virtually quiet when shot. Its a 36 ATA bow with a 6.5 brace which is a good for stability.

Was always a die hard Conquest fan, currently shooting the Athens Exceed 300... by far the best aiming bow I've shot for targets. Makes a great Finger bow too.

Just as has already been mentioned most hunting bows will do just fine on the 3D range. Right now a Maxxis 35 is working well for me for both hunting and 3D. See my sig for details.

Don't forget to look at Athens. They make a super smooth bow that shoot great.

I, like a lot of people have my favorites (Elite XLR). But what I would suggest is to come up with a list of things you want to see in a bow. Are you going to shoot hunting style or open style? The yardage you would be shooting will help decide how stable of a platform you need. A lot of guys can shoot a 35" bow very accurately but longer is generally better for most. What type of speed do you need? Do you intend to shoot IBO or ASA? Virtually every bow out there can hit the 280 mark easily. If you will be shooting IBO you might look closer at the advertised IBO speed.
This is not a complete list but should give you the general idea. Write these things down and then start your search.
One other thing. Pretty color doesn't make a bow shoot better. Think about buying either black or camo. There is always a market for "hunting" colors and makes it easier to move the bow if it doesn't fit. Good luck, Randy

i use my Bowtech Captain for 3d and Hunting(when it comes around) and everything else. Even though it only has a 34" ATA, i love it for everything! it's super smooth, has decent speeds, and shoots like a dream! heres some pics of mine, with my indoor setup

I'm currently shooting the PSE BMXL for 3-D and it works just fantastic! 36"
A2A, smooth draw, quiet, fast and accurate. Very well balanced too. For me, it's the perfect bow. I also have 2 BMXL's set up for hunting and one set up for spots. 60lb draw weight and shooting a 315 grain arrow at 308 FPS!

i would suggest looking at a bow that fits the amount of pounds you would like to draw....i shoot a monster at 57 pounds with 420 grain arrows at 280 and i'm young....no need to go grab a bow and yank 70 pounds anymore...
