what glue

looking for somethings like glue or bond for insert into gold tip shaft.. bohning bond for carbon ?

Hard to beat the low temp hot melt glue for tips and inserts.

I clean the inside of the shaft first and don't think I ve lost one yet.

have take a look at bohning and there is a other cool temp melt " blue " that use for carbon, curious anyone have try this one ?

any super glue gel type works great. it just usually ruins the shaft if you try to remove inserts or glue in tips.
i have been using hot melt glue by heating the glue more than the insert and have not had problems doing so and if i need to change components i can.

i can't remember but there is a loctite product that people use also, it looked black to me.

how low temp can u get to melt the bond, i was thinking of get that cool temp bond from bohning, can they reheat to remove the old insert ? just wonder

jt this is from bohning- it says heat reversible so yes it will allow you to remove inserts and other components without messing your arrows up

that one i was plan on get one for all of carbon if it's insert or outsert like Trophy ridge or victory, but i wonder does victory make a insert like other arrow like GT or do they make outsert on them as what i see on victory arrow but i'm not sure if 3 hunting arrow make that way, Vforce, HV V1 ?

i think the regular v force has a regular insert, the VAP are an outsert

This is what I use....I bought this bag about 5 years ago or so for about $5-7..... 24 sticks that are 10" X .44". I have 18 full sticks left and I have given 2-3 away and chucked a couple away cleaning up and broken some down to keep in my quiver and lost those.

Exactly what I use, just plain ole, ordinary, Wal-Mart craft glue sticks.

For broad head insert and/or target points. Can probably do 5 dozen arrows with one stick.

that stick look like hot glue that use on hot gun, does glue make gain few grain on arrow coz glue is thick when melt ?
can they remove old insert after use and put new in ?

yes it is jt. any glue will add a grain or two even fletching glue.

and yes that is why most of us like to use the hot melt glue because it allows you to remove your inserts easily without damaging arrows.

ok i got it, good advice to use another way to save alot money, i'll have to check it out at ace hardware store,
how will they hold insert when impact at target or animals ?

How much glue do you really think you can fit between the wall of the shaft and the insert? Correct answer is not much. Even if it is "heavier" then other glue...1-2 grains of "extra" glue weight vs another glue or even if it was 5 grains heavier (which it isn't) it isn't going to slow your arrow down...

Yes can remove the insert or point using the glue.

they hold very well when shooting targets, like the other poster said just clean the inside of your shaft because when you cut them there is a lot of dust in the shaft itself. just plain water is fine for that.

i havent start build a arrow yet but gotta shaft, insert and nock, well what heat do u use ? dentarted alcohol,bic lighter or a candle to heat a insert what tool do u use to heat a insert without get ur finger burn

i always screw a field tip into the insert and then use pliers, but you really want to heat the glue more so than the insert

that torch would be heat quick, but they do not have a stand to aviod fall when it torch BOOOOOOM
in other artcile i read some say better use denturated alcohol to heat it . so i just curious,,
only i need get heat like torch and a glue before i can start but i plan on go archery shop and get arrow cut but will have to invest some to get a arrow saw..

stop at freight harbor tools and buy a mini torch for just 7.99 good for small stuffs to work on arrows..

I have been using a torch similar to that one for oh...about 10 years. It stands up on the bottle just like in the picture. Why would it just randomly fall over unless you slam into it and knock it over? If your that careless then your gonna burn yourself or blow something up anyway so what does it matter.

Why would you want to poop an accelerator like alcohol on it? That is far from the way to do it.

If your that worried about an accident use a lighter and warm up the glue....then apply it to the insert and hold the insert with a pair of pliers and reheat the insert to soften the glue and put it in the shaft.

for small amounts of work that torch will be just fine i had one that was a little smaller and used it until it quit working.

DO NOT PUT HEAT DIRECTLY ON A CARBON SHAFT!!!! When installing point or inserts, just heat the glue and point and smear on the point or insert and slide into shaft. If you remove the point or insert, gradually heat the point as far away from the flame as possible. Carbon can't take a lot of heat.

Am I the only one that trouble with hot melt glue? I used it for a year or so and I lost quite a few inserts in targets/3d animals. Yes I cleaned the shafts with alcohol. Figured the friction of the arrow going into the target must heat up the end of the shaft, weakening the bond. I've been using regular Gorilla Glue for a while now and the only insert I have lost was one I shot into a tree.

I use a old kerosene lantern to heat the glue and tips. It doesn't heat as hot as a torch and takes a little longer to heat the glue and tip but not so hot where you have to worry about hurting the carbon in the arrows.

i use the higher temp stuff. the targets do heat up the arrow when you shoot them. and some of the older denser targets seem to grip the arrow more.

more advice like glue drip as gorilla or loctite epoxy or somethings slow cure glue ? name list them i woudl like to see then i can run store and take a look at it

if you ever want to take the insert out you will ruin the arrow with epoxy or loctite.

Archer Dad is right. If you want to remove the insert when glued in with Gorilla Glue IT WILL NOT COME OUT. Takes several hours to cure and you'll have to trim off the excess glue that ooses out.

Honestly....I have NEVER lost a point. Well ONE but that arrow almost passed through the target and was stuck in the mat used to stop the arrow in case of a pass through at Outdoor Nationals. I have been using low temp stuff since about 1998/99 and haven't had any trouble OTHER then when I have tried something else. I have shot just about everything there is to use for a target indoors....shot 3D into every type of 3D target there is....shot field into every type of material there is and shot FITA on target butts that were pulling points from everyones arrows on the Compound bales but mine and Braden G's...the 2 of us were using hot melt.

Sometimes if you heat up the glue too much it kind of melts away from the point and you don't get enough glue on the point so it doesn't hold.

got gorilla glue from home depot, if i need new insert i will just get a new arrow and insert, and give a old one to little cousin who want to doing archery cut to short arrow..
but plan on order a bohning low temp melt stick next time..
