Increasing F.O.C ??

I'm wanting to better my f.o.c so I'm thinking of adding about 20 grains to my tip weight.
How much fps will I lose and should it affect my tuning on my rig ?
Just curious if I need to re-paper tune afterward.....

Unless you are borderline underspined with your shafts now, you should loose about 7fps and have to make modest elevation adj. of your pins.

Most bows will lose 1fps for every 4 to 5 grains added to an arrow. I would not let speed determine my goal to increase FOC.

With a Broadhead I would not accept less than 12% FOC and prefer more. Things I do to get my foc up if need be are using heavier inserts, feather fletch, lighter nocks, no wraps, or as you mentioned go up to a heavier broadhead.

Those are just different things you can do. I don't necessarily do them all on every set of arrows.

So I stopped in at the shop last night...here's where it lands.

With a 100 grain tip at 27" arrow length, I'm setting at 8.8% FOC if I did my math correctly.

I added a 20 grain weight to the point, which moved my FOC to 11%.

20 grains is really all I want to add and hold my speed......any thoughts on if 2% is worth the effort to switch everything up ?

I definitely think it's worth the effort of adding heavier points. A trick I use when starting arrows from scratch are to use a lighter weight shaft with proper spine. Then that extra weight on the front makes even more difference in a final FOC.

Well....I'm trying Goldtip Triple X's for 3d this year...so correct spine is really not achievable here. I shot 30X's for the last two years with excellent results....just trying to find that sweet spot with the new logs.
