Who's using a range finder and what would be the best for hunting purposes??? Any $$ value act as if the sky was the limit??

I've been using a Leupold RX ll for the last 5 years and Swear by it, I shoot a slider sight on my hunting bow, and always take to time to range to my target ( and when that target is a game animal, I really need the time to collect myself, get my eyes of the size of the critter and back on the job of picking a SPOT ) I still can judge distances pretty good, but still pull the trusty range finder, and do find that all of that 'keep busy work ' allows me to make a more carefull shot.

Why spend big bucks on an RF for archery? You planning on taking 1000 yard shots? LOL I bought a used Leica 900 cheap on a hunting message board and it is much more than I need but i couldn't pass up the bargain. I would spend money on hunting before dropping serious coin on an RF. JMO

From what I can conclude you either have to go all in or buy the cheapest. The Leica seems to be the top of the line.
Consider your max distance and your terrain before you spend alot. I'd like one for stuff over 30 yards, but I have very few spots beyond that. I'll probably try a cheapy.

alot of people dont just use them for bowhunting i use mine for gun season and i've even caught my dad takin it golfing

Okay but seriously...how much range do you need? After 250 yards I'm not shooting, I'm stalking. My used 900 offers far greater RF info then i'll ever need. I'm certainly not taking any 1000 yard shots.

I don't see the need for an expensive one for bowhunting.

Neither did I, but bowhunting was'nt the only reason I bought the Leupold.

Since having my eyes fixed we find we are able to head shoot roo's out to 350 yards with a Winchester 270 with a busnell scope fairly often might take Elkslayers advice and go the Leupold thanks for all the comments guys
