I have done just a little. Going to get more serious about it now (I think). A young man I took deer hunting this fall (Got his first - a fork) wants to give it a go. I have a call; my plan is to set up just inside the field edge, he will use an AR to cover the field and I will use my 870 with number #4 Buck in case they come in on us from the woods. We'll see how that works out.

Late doe season ends the first of the year and we'll give it another go then.

I started yote hunting last year to give me something to do between deer hunting and fishing. I have a blast with it. I use a 243 marlin, a foxpro firestorm and a few mouth calls also. I try to call for 20 to 30 minutes and then wait for another 15 or so, and If I don't get any comers I will move to another spot and repeat.

I might go this coming up weekend. So wish me luck. The only thing that has been really cool this past year was finally getting a gray fox. I hunt all predators in my area. Post pics up of bob cats or foxes or coyotes. And tell some hunting stories also and any tips, if anybody has them.

I have coyote hunted for a couple of years and have killed 4. two with 300 win mag and 2 with 270. All was while I was deer hunting but 1 that i heard yelping and went out after it. I can't seem to get them to come to my cheap little JOHNNY STEWART call. I've tried mouth calls and e calls. I went this morn for a couple of hours with a squirrel decoy with a turkey feather tied on to the tail. I actually called in a red tailed hawk, a big stray cat, and a dozen or so curious crows but no coyotes. GOOD LUCK. Its seems harder to me than Fred Eichler makes it look.

It is a hard but enjoying sport. but sometimes it can almost be too easy. I went with my son and a friend yesterday and we called one in but he only came to within 400yds and came in down wind and you know the rest of the story. It was game over for us., i couldnt get on him fast enough. oh well, i guess thats hunting.

Put your deer scraps, bones in a bucket of water with a rope through it and tie it to a tree. This will keep them from running away with it. I get great pictures in my trail camera but never shot one. I just like to know whats in the area.

i had thought about tying a rope to a chickens leg and putting him out in a field and turn on a chicken call on the caller.

Ive thought about doing the same but with my wife's cat. That might not go over so well though. I do use a decoy of a dogs chew toy with a turkey feather attached. Like I said, a red tailed hawk about flew off with it the other day.

Im going this afternoon behind my house. There was to many and to close for comfort last night to my house. There was 3 packs in my back door. Not even 200 yrds from my back porch. Going to put the foxpro out and the trusty mojo to work, and let the AR-15 ring out this afternoon. They better hope they dont come in as a group cause they will be dead as a group when im done.

I'd like to get the new Remington MSR in a .338 cal. Then I could just blow the coyotes up.

Last time we went out had one coming in to us just had to get him to come over a rise and it was over. Unfortunately a neighbor decided at that moment it was time to do some target practicing; oh well.
