Default Changing from 3D to hunting

I use a handheld for target shooting and a trigger for hunting. Both with the same bow, unfortunately the two different releases give me different anchor points so once I move over to hunting gear my 3d target season is over.

Thinking about using a handheld for hunting, anybody here use a handheld for hunting?

I started hunting with my CARTER JUST CUZ 2 years ago ,and won't
go back to a trigger (ever) ! It is so nice to just reach up and grap
my bow with the release attached to the D loop .

Been using a Cascade model * for about the last 20 years. It's nice to hunt with what I've been using year round. No fuss, no muss. Just shoot.

Questioning why you have to hold it for anything other than the shot? Otherwise your hands can be in your inside pockets
Use one you can clip on and hang from the D-loop until your ready.

Carter Insatiable II for target and hunting

I set the release and lock it onto the loop. When its show time I grab the bow and release, draw back and for some reason when shooting at a deer all you have to do is think about firing in your mind and the arrows on its way.

Cheers

Sometimes I don't even remember drawing the bow.

To bad I couldn't get that auto firing on the shooting line too.

I'd only choose one over the other if there is an accuracy advantage. I've debated the same issue after experimenting with handhelds/BT/and index finger releases. Go with what you shoot best.

One of the biggest problems is I'm a cluts and I have my thumb release set fairly light and I drop stuff.
If I clip it on before I see a deer I know I'll be climbing up and down retrieving my dropped release
