Where you start is.......
You need to learn what
your personal limits are regarding the basic set up of your new bow. How much weight you can draw? What is your draw length? These questions can be answered at any competent archery shop. We can't even think to make suggestions about basic stuff on a forum.
If deer are on your list....
I checked the Missouri conservation site and noted that you are not bound to any minimum draw weight.

Thus, you can hunt deer and turkey with a bow, in your state, without regard to your draw weight. Here in NC, you must have a minimum draw weight of 35 pounds. And, I would never suggest any draw weight less than that for deer sized game.
Bowhunting is a very personal thing. You can borrow your friend's rifle and possibly do well with it. A bow rig, on the other hand, needs to be fitted to you.
I hope this helps.
