Husband LOVES archery and I need advice from the pros!

We live in an area where that are not too many scheduled tournaments....maybe just twice a year. DH loves hunting and doing archery practice with friends, so I wanted to set up an informal tournament for them on our property. This is what I have to work with: we have about 10 acres of follow farmland that I could use and about 2 acres of that is more wild/rugged, he has two regular targets and two 3-D targets and I was thinking it could be for about 10 guys... I was thinking of doing a map of our place with a location for each target, kind of like stations...how many stations do you think I need? how much time should be allocated to each station? I was thinking of starting in the morning and then ending it with lunch for the guys. I appreciate any advice you have, I have never been to a tournament myself. Thank you.

You might ask the friends of you husband to contribute some more targets. a map with stations is cool. if they are using thier hunting set ups, I wouldnt put targets more than 50 yards from where they are shooting. depending on what you want with ten guys I would break them up into groups of 2 or 5 and have each person shot 4 or 5 arrows at each target and add up the points and who ever has the highest points wins. have each person pay five to ten bucks. winner takes half the pot you keep the rest to buy food or something or to pay for the maps and things like that.

Since I had last posted, I realized I wouldn't be able to do this on my own as a surprise, so now DH and his cousin took over and I am in charge of lunch . Since the guys are happy to have a place to do this, they were able to get enough targets from the group and DH will be setting them up. I am also in charge of ordering some kind of simple trophy or metals for the top three winners...so I may just search the internet and order them. They were also talking about everyone pitching in the $5 or $10... Hopefully it works out well and everyone has a good, safe time so that they can keep doing it at our place. Just have to chime in to say YOU-R-AWESOME for even thinking of such and idea. My wife let's me shoot pretty much whenever or wherever I want but for you to iniciate such a great idea says allot. Hope everyone has a blast. The map is also a great idea...makes it much safer when you can see everything on one sheet of paper so you aren't shooting towards another set-up.

Thanks. I really try to be accommodating to the guys (especially by cooking) so that everyone comes to my home. I rather they do stuff at my house where I know they are safe and where my son can join them when he wants to and come home when he is tired or hungry.
