still only worth 150 points... a 120 class 10 scores the same 50 for the deer and 10 pts per point that is 1" long....
|
Okay..........so the P&Y or B&C score has no bearing....
...looks like the sheer number of points a buck has...
so...I guess I'll have to shoot that 230" Ohio 27 pointer I had been saving for next year......

Well it was a pressure situation fer sure
I was in a white oak about 30 yrds from ta little field of clover. I have never seen a deer from that tree in tha field feedin' in 19 yrs
so it is gittin' late and I glance over my shoulder and a fat ol doe is grazin' at 38 yrds in tha field
so i have a bunch of limbs between me and her. so I finally git a limb tied off and she just moved through that hole so no shot on her.
Well the next thing I know a doe and a little one come by this one and turn up tha trail leadin' to my stand.
by now it is gittin' poor light.
so she comes on in on tha steady walk and I am tryin' ta git on her and she gits to 5 yds and I decide to let her walk by for a better shot.
I had left some scent killer in a spray bottle by tha tree and covered it with sticks and leaves
this doe gits one whiff and does a 180
so I git on her at a sharp quarting shot to tha right side and I am havin' a tuff time gittin' a good pin vision.
finally at 12 yds out and moving I settle on her last rib high and send that arrow on it's way
I hear that thuckin' sound that is so sweet and reassurin'
She takes off like 60.
I come down prretty quick for tha light is faddin' and I knew I had a good hit on her
Find the arrow and blood all tha way up.
Looks good on them yellar vanes.
She goes 160 + yards and piles up.
Yup weaned another bambi

nice job lungcutter!! I passed up a bunch of yearling bucks monday. 6 spikes 3 4 corns and a small 6 pointer. and hit a branch on a doe at 40yds tuesday night. luckly it was a clean miss. I did some more branch clearing of stuff I couldnt see in the blind. and will be back in the next weekend.

Way to go kbo I never shot 1 in velvet(yet). Give some details of the hunt and the shot. I need to hear all of it. Did your deer have an injury that made him still be in velvet this late in the year?

What a day!
I was at my huntclub this morning lookin a all the maps at 5am
5 of us were bow huntin 3 use X-bows
I couldnt deside which stand i wanted ta use,ive got 7 set up 4 with food plots
I took my climber and headed ta water down from a cow pasture where i seen 15 deer in thursday evening.
I got on a trail commin down from the pasture on a creek with a briar thick cutover they were goin to bed in.
Theres oaks around the creek droppin giant acorns.
I jacked up a tree that i went up last year and killed 2 bucks off of.
At 6;30 here they come does and babys they hung around 30minutes then left.
A 4pt came out wide 40yds and left and then this one.
At first i wasnt gonna shoot him then i noticed the velvet hanging off his horns so at 18yds i took him.
I wanted to europeian mount him,i do them alot and for club members.
Anyway at 7;30 it way foggy and hot he was 1/4 away and i sent that stick thru him an into the ground on the other side 6inches.
The setup: Summit Openshot treestand, 04 PSE-Flash 65lbs,Beman ICS Hunters with blazer wraps and vains and PSE Brute Mechinicals 100gr opening 2inches. He went 40yds threw the thickest meanest brier's you could emagine.
And after a great day and some great pics I broke my brand new $300 camara
But im still smillin!
I can buy another camara, but the moment I crawled thru the thick briers and found my buck, PRICELESS!
