wasnt Archerytalk was it??? to many opinions there I am afraid (60,000members)... please dont give up.....this sport can be truly rewarding....its a shame that the person that set up your bow didnt give you more help....

Don't give up. Everybody has their own opinions. The best thing you can do is take the ones that sound like they may help and try them, if you don't like the change, change it back. I was just as frustrated:frusty: a few weeks ago. You can't please everyone, so just please yourself. Just for example, these guys told me to take the tube off my peep and since it was about to snap anyway, I changed peeps. So far, I like it. But if I decide I don't like it, I will definately go back to the tube. This sport is about fitting the equiptment to YOU, not everyone else. Good Luck :cheer2:

Glad to hear you are not going to give up on archery. It truly is alot of fun once you get things comfortable for yourself. Everyone will have their own opinions but just make little changes at a time if you are going to change them at all. Do you have any shops or clubs around you where you can go and get some help from others who have been where you are. We all started off confused and frustrated. Most, not all but most archers at clubs and shops will truly enjoy helping a fellow archer get started. I truly hope you get things lined out soon and can begin enjoying this wonderful sport. I just can't figure out why anyone would tell you to get rid of your d-loop, thats plain crazy. There is nothing wrong with your equipment, might need adjusted a little, but nothing wrong with it. Speed is not near as important as accuracy. Glad to see your not giving up!!!!!

 

That exactly why I have like 20 posts over there in the last year. Nothing is wrong with your bow. Get it setup and tuned to you. Thats it. I had a couple people a few years ago tell me its hard to shoot good with bad equipment. I thought that was bull.......and quite frankly pissed me off, I liked the bow that I had, I had it setup with what I could afford and just had fun with it. I got expensive stuff now and I still shoot the same 299's with what I have now as I did then......did up my X count quite a bit but alot of that has to do with practice..........anyway like I said shoot what you have and if down the road you would like a fancy target bow so be it but dont do it to try to keep up with anyone....do it cause you want toeace:

 

Oh and remember you dont have to spend a fortune on bows anyway people kill deer with the cheapest priced stuff out there the same as people who spend $700.00 on a bare bow................................Man I think I need to prioritize.

n2t, I just went through all of this. I like to learn what I can and got overwhelmed. I had lots of people tell me to get rid of my old Martin Jaguar, wisker biscuit, junk sight, cobra release,... I got the draw length set after going to 2 shops and being measured and got what I thought felt right. If it needs changed later it is only $10 for my mods. Since I started shooting I did upgrade to the "new" biscuit insert, shortened my release and got a round sight. That was all by my choice as I started to develope my own style. As for the bow, I need to get alot better before I can out-shoot my bow. When I can, I will probably buy a year old bow from someone that has to have the latest and greatest. I can't see that 20-40 fps can make "that much difference" to me. I just a new-bee, but that is how I dealt with what you are going through. GL :noidea:
