I'm one of "Those hunters" that loves archery and hates rifle season. There are a huge number of reasons why and most of them can be read about in the local papers.

What I want to know is does ANYONE know why our archery season stops on 11/10? Is there an actual real reason for it or is it to give the rifle hunters the idea that the woods have "calmed down" enough for them to go in there and shoot each other?

Also, why does our season stop again on 12/8 until after X-Mas?

is there an actual reason for it or is it just an old leftover law that will never be corrected like the No hunting on Sunday law?

So that the deer have some unpressured time to breed?

Pa has some of the dumbest hunting laws around. But they are trying to take steps to make changes.

This year they finally allowed you to carry a hand gun while bow hunting and spotting at night. With any luck Sundays will be opened up for hunting soon.:biggrin1:

    For spotlighting? Who Knows.
For bowhunting-- self preservation from any whack job that feels the need to also be in the woods IE: PA.HUNTER MURDERED.

Isn't this the second PA hunter that was intentionally shot? the other was during small game season, some guy walked up to him (when he was in his stand) lined up the shot and blasted him in the face.
