When you change from shooting with fingers to a release aid (or changing release aid types) how do YOU go about getting used to it?

haha...that's the obvious choice. I just wanted to ask because there are several ways some people go about it...ranging from expensive pvc tubes with a handle and spring....to just giving it a rip and seeing where the arrows shall fly.
:D Hopefully it wasn't a TOTALLY stupid question for me to ask.

I would move up to about 10-15 feet and blank bale with it until I felt comfortable.

 I don't know why I didn't think to do it that way. It makes a lot of sense. It's not like the arrow is likely to ricochet or anything. :D

Thanks for getting my brain working again.
