Nope, I took several off because it wasn't realistic for me to go (ie: working saturdays and school M - F) but never by choice.
I took almost 20 years off. School, family, job, nobody in my family and none of my friends hunted. Then the bug hit me again big time and is only getting worse.
Yes...my Senior year of high school I did not hunt because of EMT school and again 3 years later for Paramedic school......one of the biggest mistakes ever.,.......even more so when the property was sold several years later. Time in the woods can not be replaced with anything....especially here in NY when the powers that be are trying to take away our rights everday.
I missed the opening day of buck, because I was on my honeymoon. I haven't missed any seasons since and that has been 17 years ago.:decision:
I took many years off from hunting b/c it didn't fit into my priorities anymore....until i picked up target shotting wit a bow again and then it was just a natural transition back into it.
I did last year... I had a choice of either going out of country for 4 weeks for work or stay home go hunting and be unemployed??? I took the go out of country since deer meat will feed the family but won't pay the bills :noidea:
two years i took two years off after my friend and hunting partner committed suicide. I just lost my passion for it. Thankfully another buddy bugged me and bugged me to push for him in rifle season. His little brother shot his first buck that trip, and that was all it took! that was 7 years ago, and I have been back into it since! Shoot straight-Jim
I took off my early to mid twenties because it didn't fit in with all the club-hoppin I was doing. :noidea:
2002 my wife and I were both in college full time, she was pregnant, we already had 3 children, and I was working two jobs. I only got out 3 times that year.
yes, last year I did. No hunting no scouting...nothing just to spend time with the wife and daghters as I prepped for my Iraq deployment.......... Had I known I was going again next month, and gonna be gone for 15-20 months thistime, I might not have done it.
Not much! I missed 1 week 20 years ago when my son was born on halloween week! Killed me! Been huntin since beside my dad age 6 im 46 now! Have 5 weeks vacation and take 3 weeks for myself and the woods every year! And every year is like a new adventure, just awesome!
