    Hey all,

I am looking into what it takes to do your own re-vaning. I was wondering the thoughts from the general population on this topic. You know like is it recommended to do your own vanes or should you just let the pro-shop do it, what stuff does one need, then how the process works, is there any GOOD online material whatever you can offer I am listening...

So there y'all go now fill this thread up!!!

refletching is very easy and should be something every archer learns......

and to heck w/refletching you should be buying raw shafts and making your own finished arrows....

get yourself a Bitz jig and never look back...you can get the jig at Gander Mountain for $69

    I agree..

Thats what I am talking about doing. Although, my current carbons are still in very good shape but you know I could always use more arrows, of course that is if the Director of Financial Spending (yes I have one of those) approves the P.O.

Should I get two of those jigs or is one enough?

    No...

After seeing the price it depends on the one that approves my spending

I know you can relate, Missie!!!

I've used and arizona ez fletcher and really like it but you are limited as to what you can do with it. If you plan on fletching all your arrows with the same helical it will work great for you. It is very easy to use. I can fletch a half a dozen arrows in less then ten minutes. I also saw that bohning came out with a new fletching jig called the tower. I haven't seen it but it looks like it is more accomodating then the ez fletcher.

I like the jo jan myself. mainly because I got a good deal on it. I can put vanes on stright or offset with it. I just finished some arrows with 4 vanes to see how they will do with a drop away rest. you can save time and money doing it your self. your also get a few more friends.:biggrin1:

    Heres the deal..

The pro shop put 2 inch blazers on my carbons. The tech said that he used a helical I believe its a right hand helical. If you read my "Blazers vs Quick Spins" thread you will see that I am very happy with the performance from the Blazers. I want to be able to do this to my other 9 arrows. So whichever jig I use needs to be able to accomodate this setup. Also, what questions should I ask the tech to find out what he did so I can do the same with the other arrows?

By the way.. so far if you all agree, I saw the Arizona, and the Jo Jan. But it seems that for the price I can pick up a Blitz with extra stuff. Plus it seems that in most of the articles I read last night the Blitz tends to be the most talked about and reliable. If the Blitz jig will duplicate my current setup then I would love to stick with that. Keep your thoughts coming folks. I still have not bought anything yet. I am very open to pros/cons on all jigs mentioned so do share. I want to make a good decision with this which is why I am coming to you all.
