Would a used Darton Maverick be a good first compound bow?
    It's a 1999
I've shot a lot of recurves but never owned a compound.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Welcome to the forum!!

I love my maverick, It's a very dependable bow. The only thing I can say is check the limbs the older ones had a tendency to crack in the cam notch, but you can get them warranteed(it is suposed to be for the orig. owner only but most shops will get you a set of limbs). But I think Darton solved that before '99. They put small round clamps on the limb at the notch.

Just try to shoot it first to make sure you're comfortable. that's the most important issue.

Great bows, very good shooters and a dream to tune.
