I was going to go to a 3d shoot this morning but it is like -7 here this morning. I have heard from a few people that shooting a bow outdoors in sub zero weather is pretty hard on a bow. Is that true? How cold is too cold and what rules of thumb do some of you use to determine if its too cold to shoot.

I don't think it would hurt the bow at -7 but If I am not comfortable shooting then it's to cold. I used to hunt in weather like that but usually I just ended up sick so I tend to hold out for a little warmer weather..:noidea:

I was going to shoot in my first 3d tournament today but I admit I am a *****. It could be worse it could be real windy.

I think your form would suffer more than your bow.

Its up to 0 now. Not much wind the shoot is until 3 so maybe I will give it a go. Its not bad if there isnt wind.

    Without a doubt Scotty...
    I am as die-hard as anyone but I wouldn't even consider a 3d at -7(a hunt maybe but not a 3d...:biggrin1: )

As for your equipment, I don't think it would hurt it but it may affect it's performance a little...not sure about that either though. Best thing to do is Email or call the manufacturer.

I have to agree. The bow will not suffer but my shaking would be bad at -7. Unless its around 30 or higher I don't think I could do it comfortably.:biggrin1:

the best way I know to tell if it is to cold to shoot is to open a can of vienna sausage. turn it upside down. if the juice wont run off , get back in truck, eat them and go home.:D

dont you have to put them under the hood to heat them first like the Fitzgeralds do?
