Last night about an hour before dark a big 10 pointer came up behind my stand and i shot at an odd angle and hit the deer in the lower ribs towards the hind end and he couldnt move so i put another one in him at an even worse angle and hit him in the neck...we tracked him last night till 12 and today for a while and found massive blood but couldnt find the buck i am extremely dissapointed....
i think im done getting to track it because it was at my friends familys land and we searched everywhere
That sucks... I've had them backtrack on me and I've walked right by them following the blood trail...
Reminds me of ol Bullet poppa Dean arrowed a 6 point N it went into a clearcut he went and got Bullet tha begale never barked just went rig ht to tha deer
novel idea fer a seasonal company .....if ya don't want ta hunt:laugh: would need chopper and dogs, kennels , polits and scouts $400 bucks and hour pm me fer my Phone # travel time will be added
I wish ya wouldn't give up....do you have or know someone with a good beagle....should be able to find him.
Do you mean quartering to? If you were on his trail for 3 - 4 hours....you probably unknowingly jumped then pushed him several times. A buck can travel for MILES at that rate. If the hit was MORTAL....he should have died from loss of blood within 400 yards... Next time.... When in DOUBT..........back out We all have done it at least once...... A smart man learns from his mistakes... A Genius learns from others... Get back out there.... eace:
I want to go look for it but im unable to and by odd angle i meant i was shooting at wierd position in the stand but the good news is i got a nice doe this morning so im not totally bummed
if the blood trail just ends i would walk 10 feet on both sides of the blood trail..... i have had several deer back track on me and that was how i ended up finding them....try it, it works!
