Man have things been slooooooow. Got out this AM and PM. Tonight had about a 28" yearling in front of me. Round ears, short nose and tail. So tempting. I've bumped a couple going in or out, but this is the first from the stand. Found some rubs finally too. Rut seems a little behind around here. Any other Mass or New Enlglanders here? What are you seeing?
Yep! The rut is late here to. one or to chasing but not full out rut yet. I saw a 6pt and spike today didnt shoot.:biggrin1:
Nope! Believe it or not this was a new one.:noidea: I was hunting in another area about 5 miles down the road and when i seen him commin. I said NO WAY but when he got closer he had taller and wider spikes.
I hope I get that wierd looking spike tomorrow. He has a 5" and 6" spike on one side and a normal 4 point antler on the other.
Hey Red I'm from mass. i've been seeing deer pretty steady right from opening day but it has slowed down in my area too (more people in the woods I think). I've seen seven diff. bucks shot and missed one opening day jitters! (nicked a tree) I have passed on does and skips so far but that's about to change as the season is wearring thin. Hang in there your shot will come. Shortshaft.
I'm in Maine....maybe North of New England?! Anyway, was out there today...didn't see a thing.....'cept turkeys. Got lots of 'em here. Didn't get a turkey tag wanting to focus on deer:frusty: Rut seems to be slow in this area, too.
