What is your longest shot taken with a compound bow.
Shooting targets? I practice out to 65 yards.
Longest Shot In Yds
I should have mentioned longest shot and kill with Compound Bow on a wild animal that resulted in a KILL. 65yds thats one heck of a shot with a bow.
62yds was my longest kill shot, on a pronghorn, broadside, double lung, complete pass through.
I like em close so 20 yards is my farthest kill shot.
I only practice out to about 30 yards anymore.
In that case....i don't really hunt any spots where you're gonna get clean shot past about 30-40 yards.
100 yards targets, 45yards deer, 90% of the deer I take are under 20 yards
130 yards on a target
83 yards Black Bird
60 yards Rabbit
45 yards Deer -- majority of Deer 20-35 yards
5 yards Fly

20 kills. But I'll shoot 50 yards at targets.
Ive shot one doe at 45...only because she wouldnt leave me alone. kept stomping her feet and blowing. Every other deer has been inside 30.
64 yards at a buck last year.
Point well taken Hoosier, I shouldn’t have posted what I did; Folks keep you’re hunting shots within your comfort zone for most 15 - 25 yards would be a common range.
But a side note with a little pride
The 130 yard target was shot repetitively with the Conquest 4 target bow, maximum distance while aiming dead on.
The rest was accomplished with my Prestige hunting bow with a 5 pin lethal weapon sight with razor pins
Good Luck everyone this fall
I do alot of field hunting and Deer dont always come in where you want or think they will...I took a Doe @ 47 yrds. thats my longest kill shot, most average around 25 yrds. for me...I practice out to 60-65 yrds...
Longest shot I have taken at game would be 30 yards (that is all my spot will allow). I do have a 60 yard pin that is sighted in and can consistently hit a paper plate at that distance.
45 yds on a doe that i killed while stalking. most of my shots are 15-20 yds.
When I was starting out I made a 65-70 yard shot on a doe...
 BAD SHOT...took a long time for her to bleed out... now I limit them to 45...
Of course bows weren't what they are now...
but I'll still reach for a coyote...:biggrin1:
The longest I've ever taken is 25 yards, but I'm confident to 45. :biggrin1:
deer 35 yards is about max...but over the summer i have become very good to 60 yards...but still wouldnt take that shot at a deer.but mabey a elk size animal.
if you are absolutly sure of the yardage and consistanly practice from a stand at a certian range say 40
if it clean
i did it 1 time as a deer came out into a bean field stopped at a dead 40
shot him back but in tha liver
i like em' 12 yarders tha best
also deer are creatures of habit if you ani't spooked him he will be back and you can set up closer
