Hey, I know there are people way smarter than me, so I am asking for help. I just ordered a Blueberry Dren LD. It has 60# limbs that I will max out so I am guessing about 62#. I have a 28" Draw, and I was planning on cutting my arrows at about 27". The problem I have is I want to get as much speed as I can for 3D's but the arrow chart for the Gold Tip Ultra Lights says I need the 500's but I can't get to 5 grains per pound I need which is 310. I can only get 297.8 with a 100 grain tip, and a fob. Any suggestions for a light arrow setup that I can use that will be acceptable for my poundage? I was planning on using 100 grain tips. Do I need to go to 125's?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks All

well with the 5 grain per pound rule you need 300 grain arrow any way to keep the warrenty on the bow. I am not 100 % sure but any thing under that is not good for the bow . Says the bow companys.
But I think that should be close enough. But that is just me, Just make sure you get the spine right on the arrow.

If you are overly concerned about the 10 grains of weight you are missing, you could always just back the bow down to 60 pounds. Do you make your own arrows? If so, consider adding wraps if you don't already. That will add 6 to 10 grains depending on the wrap.

Try an arrow wrap. I know Onestringer have wraps that are heavier than others, I just can't remember what they call them, I think it is double something. I use a seven inch wrap to bring my weight up to what I need with the FOB but have found that the FOC wasn't exactly the way it should be and had to get to a 125 grain point to get my arrow working the way I wanted. I understand your want for speed completely.

    Welcome...

297 is really close. you should be ok but to be safe you can always cut them @ 27 1/2"... and back it down to 60# :noidea:
That oughta give you 300-302...:noidea: JMO.

Add some wraps. You could even double wrap the shafts if need be. The tip weight could also be increased. But adding weight at the ends may affect the way your arrow flies too. FOB's for 3D? That sounds too expensive for me.

I also shoot the 500's. 25.5" shaft length, pin nocks, G/T inserts, 2" blazers, double wraps, & 75 grain point puts me at 293 grains. Bow is set at 58.

Do you have to use a screw in tip with the class you're shooting in ?
If not. GT has a glue in point that is weight adjustable.

With 62#s, a 28" draw and 100 gr. tips, 400s would really be a better spine.
( If I'm reading the GT chart correctly )
I would be willing to give up some speed for a better flying arrow.

Good luck, this is not always an exact science......

WHY are you cutting your arrows before your bow comes in????

arent you going to make sure they tune before you cut them at 27"???

just because the chart said it will work does not mean it will work......

IF you were that concerned with speeds and weights, maybe you should have ordered a Mathews:noidea: :noidea:

If you are concerned with accuracy and smoothness, then yes Mathews is the bow for you......
