I have been out of the sport for about 5 years now and Im looking at getting back into shooting 3D. My question is this: Is there a place to buy Hoyt bows online? Its so dang hard to find a bow of decent quality here in the West Texas area....especially left handed...lol Anyway, if anyone knows of a good site or two that has not only bows, but also some new equipment, it would be greatly appreciated... Right now, I have a Hoyt Viper, Toxonics Naildriver sight, cant remember what rest, but its a nice one...lol, Bullseye 3D scope, and Speciality Archery stabalizers. Also, whats the hot string and cable setup now days??? Thanks in advanced and I look foward to learning more and more...
Hello and welcome to the forum. As for the Hoyt.........No you cannot buy a new hoyt online along with most other high end manufacturers. But you can find some great used ones in the classifieds both here and on AT. Lots of great strings and cables being made Bucknasty,Vapor Trails, Carters Strings, Winners Choice. Again I am very glad to meet you and hope to help ya out in the future just post away or PM me.eace:
Oh its another forum just not as nice as this place. It gets a little carried away over there but they have very high traffic. Which means more to choose from. Good luck and have fun.:biggrin1: www.archerytalk.com as for the strings no problem buddy.eace:
Ok......I have decieded to go ahead and get a new bow. I dont hunt at all. All I do is shoot 3D. My new question is this: What are some good 3D bows out there. I have been looking at the classifieds both here and on AT. There are alot of new bows that I havent heard of or have heard of, but havent seen. I know this is a difficult question to answer, but Im looking at Mathews, Hoyt, and possibly Bowtech. Im just not sure what models will do me justice...lol Any help?
For 3D my suggestions are: Mathews Switchback XT or Drenalin or Apex 7 Hoyt Vectrix or Vulcan Bowtech Tribute or Guardian Just my opinioneace:
If you want a hoyt. We got a new 2005 Hoyt lazer tech cam & 1/2 left handed ,and its a 70# bow for $349.00. The manager has sold bows to people out of state.
just curious but maybe you can answer some of the following: whats your draw length what are you hoping to pull (poundage) are you good at judging yardage do you have a "price limit" (including arrows, sight, release...) some of this info should be able to help steer you in the right direction
My draw length is 29" Im wanting a 70# max bow Im pretty good at judging yardage....i shot 3d for quite a few years before I got out of the hobby. I dont want to spend the bank per say, and I already have all the accessories, arrows, etc..... Im actually kinda steering towards a Mathews if that helps.
Mathews? oh no not another one! :biggrin1: I would look closely at the XT. Or you could go for broke and get an Apex7
BOWMAN, do you happen to have a good dealer where you are at? We dont have a dealer worth a poop near me and its a real pain in the arse to try and find a left handed bow.
where you at....the dealer by me is top notch.... I got a question???......why do you need to "TRY" a bow in a left handed version??? why not just try the right handed version, shooting it left handed??? put in your left hand just to see what the grip is gonna feel like but as far as the shot it wont matter, right or left haded it will have the same shock and vibration in both hands:noidea: this way you can try all the bows on the market and see what you like best.....if there is a right handed bow that really sticks out as something you like.....just think how nice it will be in lefty..... think about it sometimes I scare my self......
Im in Midland Tx......... I didnt say try a bow, i said try and find a bow....LOL There really isnt a archery pro shop near me worth a crap
Another question for ya..... I still have alot of my archery shop equipment, but the knowledge has escaped me...... Is there somewhere online that might refresh me as far as the basics go as to setting up and tuning a bow?
ask here and check over at AT...these guys are a book full of usefull knowledge, just ask you will be amazed at the quality answers you recieve... ..
Careful... Although you have to catch Bowman on a good day when hes not fondling his new Prestige!!!
