hey guys, ik ive brought this up befor but i need to replace some inserts and i wanna replace the ones still in the arrows too, i cant get them out tho. any suggestions?
Carbon or aluminum arrows? If they are carbon you are taking a big risk heating them. If alum, just heat them and pull.
I've removed them with heat before but it is very risky. You can damage he shaft doing it. So, attempt this at your own risk.:biggrin1:
If your're gonna heat them to get them out try this first... screw in an old field point or a broad head without the blades in it and heat the tip not the arrow shaft... you should get enough heat transfer to the insert to loosen it then use pliers on the tip and work it out of the shaft... Becareful with heat on those carbon shafts...it's easy to over do it.:biggrin1:
yup, ive used this tactic before...it works just fine with the old cutting torch.....I clamp the broadhead/field tip in a vice, then heat it for 5-10 seconds, then pull the arrow away from the vice...works good....good luck
