Just wondering if anyone has field tested these heads on elk size game, i know most use fixed blade heads but i like the 1.5 '' cutting dia. Thanks for the info.

With them being a cut on contact mechanical they should get plenty of penetration. Plus the 1.5" cutting aint a bad thing.

    3 weeks to colorado

I'm heading out elk hunting in three weeks and i'm still unsure if i should take the rage with me. I was hoping to find more guys killing elk with rage broadheads.

    Rage 3 blades

I had trouble with the 3 blades not opening all the way. and the tips were not even close to being sharp either. the blade configuration is too close and everything must hit perfect for the blades not to get jammed up on one another. push a 3 blade rade though a piece of cardboard a few times and you will see what i mean. i will not use the 3 blades ever again. i did not loose any animals but i did not like what i say for the price you pay for them. just my 2cents. good luck on your hunt!

I would like to hear more about the equipment you are using. Bow, cam, poundage, draw length, arrow weight, speed etc.

Now that said, If your generating enough K.E. I would lean to the 2 blade rage instead of the 3. I have had two guys pulling 50-52# get pass throughs on whitetails even after I recommended they not use the 2 blade rage. One is even 27" draw.

If I was set on using Rage for Elk I'd definitely lean toward the 2 blade. That said I'd prefer a fixed blade especially on Elk size animals.

Ill 2nd MeanV2..... Elk Is a big animal, I pesonaly would not use a head that takes alot of KE to do its work, (or Might not open)will take alot to push a big 3blade at 1.5 cut dia though a elk. You dont need a big hole, just a smaller one in the right place.

Just make sure that you are allowed to use them where you are hunting. Some areas consider the Rage style broadhead a barb. Colorado maybe??
There may be a few other states as well.

yup, i was under the same impression and was thinking for a while that they were not legal in NY, but almost every shop has them, and I am not sure why they are not considered a barb, especially in "YANKEE" town.......

    anybody???:noidea:

    Not in a million years

they are illegal to even have in your possession where I am elk hunting.

I would stick with a fixed blade and use at least a 400gr arrow

There's the Stiker Magnum (fixed) if you want an 1 1/2" hole, but I would make sure you have enough KE like with any larger 3 blade. Sorry, I'm no help on the Rages.
