Alright... so we have 8 weeks until the R100 in PA. Its 50 targets a day, lots of walking in the sun and its summer... So its time to Man up and slim down. I officially started this morning as holiday picnics, vacation, travel... are now over with and I can actually concentrate on keeping a schedule. All of us fat arses have an excellent opportunity to get it in gear and a nice close time line to aim at for our short term goals. There is no excuse not to, its nice outside, veggies and fruits are coming into season, yard work and other outdoor things need done... why not go all the way and improve your life as well while you are at it? Besides... who really wants that beer gut when we are taking pics of you and posting them everywhere after the R100? :biggrin1: You determine what goals you would like to set. There is no cash on the line, there is only you feeling good for a change and severe and brutal harassment if you don't follow through on your plan. Current: Age: 27 Weight: 270 Height: 6' 4" Waist: 38 Beer Gut: full keg Short term Goals (by July 20): Be able to jog 2 miles without stopping, be comfortable in a 36" waist Mid term goal (Sept ie: archery season scouting): Be able to jog 3 miles and be comfortable in a 34" waist Mid Long term goal ( mid Nov Hunting trip in Maine) Be able to jog 3 1/2 - 4 miles. Work on walking up stairs and sprinting uphill to get used to the incline How am I going to get there: 6:00 am wake up Cardio: before I eat (chug a glass of cold water instead) spend time on tread mill, right now I'm doing 20 min "power walk", this will increase by 5 minutes for the next 2 weeks, every other day. Once I hit 30 I'll change to 5 minute "power walk" then 5 min jog, then repeat. Start at 20 and work up to 30 min jog (then eat breakfast) On the non-cardio day - eat 2 eggs on Lenders a bagel w/ spicey mustard some "light" weight training, basically high reps low weight. My goal is to drop weight by building lean muscle. I can always bulk up later if I want  I'm going to aim for somewhere around 1000 - 1500 calories / day max intake and at least 1 - 1 1/2 gal of cold water consumed. This should keep me below my daily usage and thus burn lots of fat in theory. More then likely my diet will consist of: Breakfast: (between 7 - 8 am) Special K (Red berry) and Milk Lenders Bagels and Eggs Eggs and OJ AM Snack: (between 10 - 10:30 am) Banana, apple, grapes... some sort of fruit Lunch: (between 12:00 - 1:00 pm) Grilled chicken breast Salad (no or light on dressing) Turkey breast sandwich on Wheat w/ mustard Low fat something if I go out to lunch Afternoon snack: (between 3:30 - 4:00 pm) granola bar Piece of fruit or veggie (ie: celery sticks, carrots...) Dinner: (between 6:00 - 6:30 pm) Not sure but something fairly lite. I pretty much went on this diet and exercise regime when I was about 21 and dropped from 220 down to 185 or so and felt great... Now I'm going to do it again If anyone else wants to Man up and Slim down post your plan in here as well and I'll harass the crap out of you and make you feel like scum until you stick to it!
Ohh Dredly... If I were 27 again, i'd be right there with you... i think my metabolism went on a permanent vacation.. I'l be trying, only it's going to take me a lot longer.. But, I will be more than happy to harrass you and keep you going! p.s. Not posting my stats Julie
WooHoo Go Dredly!! Ok, if all you guys won't Man Up, I will. I need some super motivation to lose another 20lbs. I will get my stuff together and post my stats and plan later today.:biggrin1:
Dred, i have lost 12 lbs and still trying. I am still a big ol boy at 276 and 6 ft tall. my gut is full of chicken fried of course, can't help it being a preacher:laugh: i like tha snack part.. cookies, ice cream and such. lookin forward to tha D-100. and gittin my backside whooped by Bowman as he has proclaimed.
You should not go below probably 1200-1500 a day. Women do about 1200 a day so men are I believe about 1500. You don't want your body to go into starvation mode so balanced meals. The drinking water part is crucial for sure, and 3 meals a day with 2 snacks in between. I've lost almost 30# so far. I'm doing Nutrisystem but the calorie count is the part you don't want to go to low on.
Smokey what does eating fried chicken have to do with being a preacher??? Pretty bad blaming that on your eating habits LOL. I know it's hard to not have those bad snacks but it's important. We don't want to hear you guys having blood pressure or those wonderful cholesteral numbers in not good areas. Now see if everyone gets all svelte and hunky us ladies are gonna have to control ourselves LOL.
One of these days Bowman is gonna cry you guys gonna give him a complex LOL. I'm starting to actually feel sorry for the poor guy....:noidea:
Well bowman sure is in fer some more ribbin....so I guess he'll need a lot more pity. NOT You gotta be kiddin' He don't git nowhere what he dishes out. We are being overly good to em'.
It is a preacher thing that goes back to when people use ta pound, give em' food and stuff(live chickens) instead of money. I was pounded once by a small church up in S W VA. They also took me bowhunting in some really good places. Best excuse i can come up with fer eatin' that sacred bird. Alot of chickens have entered tha ministry.
So, Does this mean that you are going to be eating rabbit food and drinking only water around the much anticipated grilling and associated campfire(s) at the R/D-100 in PA ? Ron
I got into the fitness program on AT. I'm still going good I think so far I have lost 14#. But it seems everytime I try to get on over there to post up something is wrong with their server or something. I drink 10-12 glasses of water a day and eat mainly fruits, vegtables, whole grains, and nuts. I have not had a donut for about 2 months which for me is pretty darn good. My wife and youngest son are vegetarians and are very health conscious. Since the weather has gotten better I am gettin out much more and I think that is my number one goal. If we all encourage each other then we can make our goals. My only goal right now is to be at 250# by Oct 1. Thats 4 months to lose 20# which I can do with all your help and with the Lords guidance. I pray we can all get healthier and live longer happier lives. 39yrs young 6' tall 270# 42" waist
Okay...I'm with ya Dred Age:36 Ht:6'1" Wt:280 Wst:40" I started a new job 3 months ago and it's not physical at all...My last job was very physical...so I've put on about 10#... so I guess my goal for 7/20 is to drop 20# I've already modified my diet, and I walk 3 miles everynight...
