I just got my first hinge release, A Truball BT Gold, four finger. As I'm looking at this I'm scared to death to draw my bow back with it for fear of flinging arrows all over the neighborhood!
That was my first one also. Just pull with your thumb on the thumb knob and you'll be fine. It's when you stop being scared to death that you start shooting things other than your target....:biggrin1:
i have a friend who shots the same release. he likes it alot. i have shot a few BT and didn't care for em, but thats just me. hope ya like it!eace: Jim
Blank bailing will help you get used to it, without the risk of flinging arrows around the 'hood!:biggrin1: Just shoot from about 6 - 10 feet away without a target or sight, let your muscles become accostomed to the BT shot cycle before you even try aiming and firing at a target. Also, on the draw put most of the tension on the thumb rest and index finger so that the release can't fire. Godd luck!
Just remember when drawing your bow to always point your bow at the target and draw straight back. I wrap my thumb around mw index finger as well even with a thumb post.
I got used to mine, but I once flung an arrow through the neighborhood and decided it just wasn't worth it. I will do it from 5 yds, but won't shoot from 20 in the backyard anymore. My problem isn't drawing back, but I am a bit of a creeper and that doesn't work with BT!!!!
make a string bow and practice with it for a couple of weeks till you get comfortable. Then shoot at 10 yds not aiming. but working on the shot procedure. You pull back with your thumb and index finger. I just used those two when I first started shooting a BT release. And I'd set the release slow. So you dont knock your teeth out!! LOL!!!
I shot one for the 1st time last week and it was not that bad. Just exaggerate the rotation, (reverse of what you want to get it to fire) when you draw. and shoot close to the bale at 1st. I also shot a practice string for a few days before shooting my bow.
My league partner yesterday wanted to try my zenith BT again:laugh:  it was kinda funny he ended up shooting into the wood trim around the bales:doh: guess you had to be there
Any releas can be controled using back tension I use a little bitty goose with back tension man I have tried ta switch over whew it is ruff
