Im want to get into acrhery but know nothing about it. My plan is to use it for target and small game hunting. What do i look for in a beginner bow? How mutch do i have to spend? Do clubs have loner bow's? I live in Santa Ana, California. Can any one recomend a club? I found a few on the net, are they ok for a beginner? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/sear...ntinue.x=0&Continue.y=0&Continue=Find&ic=20_0 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000H1I7N4/ref=nosim/002-8776028-1795246?n=3375251 Thank you
Mathews all the way i am not a pro at this but ill give it a shot, depending on how much your wanting to spend on a bow and how much your gonna shoot it and what youll be shooting, if your going to use it to kill deer and/or 3-d shoots, i would highly recammend a mathews mustang OR even better than that is a mathews lx 40-50lbs or 50-60lbs
before u start lookin at bows u need to get ur drawlength measure and u also need to find out what is a reasonable draw weight for u
After and only after you get properly checked for draw length and weight I would look to the clasifieds on here and AT. There are great deals to be had on both, you dont want to drop a bunch of bills into something you may not enjoy in the long run.......though I do not know how that would be possible:noidea:
class You may want to see if there is a beginner's class in your area. That way, you can find out if you like it, and your instructor can point you in the right direction to look for equipment. And by the way.........:welcome:
Thank you al So i need my mesurments taken. And i have to figer out what the weight should be. I din't know any of that.......thank you. I guess a club is a god plase to start. Im sure i can find some one hwo kan figer those two things out for me.
do u have a bass pro or maybe a local bowshop in ur area ? if so go there they should be able to help u
I live in Orange, near you. There are 3 places that I know of close. The first I'd recommend is HighTech Archery in Fullerton. Its an shop with tons of stuff and an indoor range. They have classes and stuff there. The staff is super friendly, at least when I've been there. I bought a setup for my wife from them. Its up the road from the college. There is also FS Discount Archery over by Tustin Market Place. Its hard to find and theres no range, its mostly a mail order place but they have alot of stuff and the guys there were really helpful and seemed to know their stuff. I bought my setup from them. There is also a place in Fountain Valley with a range, but I havn't been there yet. Hi-Tech Archery 1912 W Commonwealth Ave Ste A Fullerton, CA 92833 (714) 449-9744 FS Discount Archery 2852-A Walnut Ave Tustin, CA 92870 714-838-8644 I am new at all this too. I wanted to start with traditional archery and a recurve setup, mainly because I work as a sys admin and there are only so many gadgets and gizmos one can tolerate, and compounds seem to have too much of that for me. Everything I needed to get started (bow, arrows, quiver, targets, guards, etc etc) was about $300. My wifes setup was about the same, but we got nicer arrows for her. I got some cheap GT carbon arrows and the fletching was randomly stuck on so they shot differently from arrow to arrow. I refletched them myself and now they shoot pretty nice actually. My wife got some nicer Easton aluminum arrows that were about double the cost of the GT arrows, but it was obvious why. I am fairly consistant at ~20 yards (in my backyard) and now am looking to bite the bullet and get a compound bow to start hunting because I can't pull more than 40lbs on a recurve. I'm not sure if Hightech has loaners, but they can measure your draw and all that. You can call and ask. This stuff is pretty fun... which means The Peoples Repulik of Kalifornia will probably ban it before long or make us register our assault bows
