So, I am a newbie and ordered a bunch of stuff to set up my new Bengal. Having done a lot of shooting now, researching & learning. I'm prouud to say I'm happy with all my choices of accesories except 1.5 items. The peep sight seems to have a 96 inch hole to look through. I just can't be real precise with it. What is the SMALLEST peep dia. you would take into the deer woods? (only concerned about low light at dawn/dusk) Thanks, Tres So the .5 you ask. I like my sight, for the most part. It had .040 pins. I went to .019, and consider the sight GREAT!
3/16" for hunting for me. You may want to try, if you don't already, shoot with both eyes open to get a better sight picture. If you don't do that already it will take a little practice to get used to it. Ron
Now that ya gotta ja a good bow :biggrin1: yore gonna need tha right peep. I take a fletcher mid size peep and drill it out .oo3 bigger and paint it flat black. I like this tha best. At very low light you may need ta close one eye or look around and tha site agian ta make sure that yore on tha deer.
i use a 3 1/16 blue peep.... also a light an my fiber sights helps me see much better in low light conditions... just be careful with lights as i drew back on a doe last year and could not see well so i eased off and turned the light on and drew again and she looked right at me and bolted .... probably more the movement of redraw but later i had a friend look at me when i drew and the light illuminates your face very well from the other side... especially at 5 steps......
Thanks for the nice feedback fellas. I'm wanting a 1/8 peep, (been a match rifle competitor for years shooting through peeps) but you've swayed me to 3/16. Thanks!

I used a 1/8" for a loooong time but switched over to a 1/4 meta peep last summer and like it a lot better. It took a little bit to center the pin but now it's like clock work.
3/16" centers my pin guard ring perfectly with my peep height and draw length and dover-tail mount point. I tried a 1/4" but it was a diminishing return since the pin guard on the sight obstructed the extra peep diameter. It all depends on your eye sight, bow sight pin guard diameter, draw length and peep hight and how they all work together. For a long time it was trial and error for me. One thing you can try is the Specialty Archery SuperBall peep that has interchangeable apertures. I have one on my target bow and it's great. They have a hunter version that has a 1/4" max but you can reduce that by screwing in apertures, without having to tie in a peep every time you change it. Ron
